The Narwee Baptist Church – Privacy Policy

Narwee Baptist Church (NBC) respects your privacy and the sensitivity of the information you give us as we minister to you and our community.

As your church we will handle this information sensibly and responsibly in our ministry activities.

1. NBC may collect and hold a range of personal information including:
   • Identifying information – eg full name, date of birth, gender
   • Contact information – eg address, telephone numbers, email addresses, social media contacts
   • Social information – eg family details and contacts, occupation
   • Dietary needs and medical requirements
   • Information for working with children checks, child protection and safe ministry requirements and other NBC obligations
   • Financial information – ie when paying for events or giving to NBC and its ministries
   • About religious beliefs and life experiences so we can support and minister to you.

1. NBC may collect your information in different ways, including:
   • In speaking to you, eg in person, by telephone or video conference
   • In writing
   • Electronically, eg through our website
   • By voice or image recordings
   • When ministering to you and the broader community.
2. NBC collects personal information lawfully, fairly and appropriately.
3. You are not required to provide personal information to NBC. If you choose not to, our ability to minister to you or for you to participate fully in the life and activities of NBC may be limited.
4. NBC will generally collect your personal information from you. Circumstances where we may collect information about you from others include
   • information about a child, collected from their parent or guardian
   • it is unreasonable and / or impractical to collect information from you – eg where you are sick and we are communicating with your family to support you and them
5. NBC may record video or images of services and activities. Unless you tell us in advance, we assume you consent to the use of any such video or image for ministry, teaching or promotional purposes.
6. NBC may use video recording on its premises for security purposes. We may use and/or disclose to others the video footage for lawful and legitimate purposes.

1. NBC collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information to minister to you and the community, and to fulfill its obligations. This may include things such as:
   • for the immediate reason you have provided it to us, eg to register for an event;
   • to contact you, including to support you and about about our ministries;
   • to comply with NBC’s obligations, eg child protection and safe ministry.
2. NBC may use personal information to promote our ministries and activities to you, and to seek your support. If you do not want to be contacted for any of these purposes, please let us know.

1. NBC takes reasonable steps to ensure that personal information is:
   • stored securely
   • used legitimately and appropriately
   • protected from misuse, interference, unauthorised access or loss.
2. Access to sensitive information is limited to appropriate NBC staff and volunteers who understand the sensitivity and confidentiality of the information involved.
3. Where NBC has collected personal information for a particular purpose we will only use that personal information
   • for that purpose or a related purpose;
   • with consent of the individual; and/or
   • as required, permitted or contemplated by law or legitimate authority.

1. NBC may disclose your personal information:
   • to Baptist Churches of NSW & ACT to ensure compliance with child protection, safe ministry or other obligations;
   • where required, permitted or contemplated by law; and/or
   • with your consent, to another person or organisation.
2. NBC will not sell or disclose your personal information to others for non-ministry related purposes.

Any individual can access their own personal information by sending a written request to NBC office.
